Xàbia will limit the number of bathers on its beaches from July

17 June 2020 - 14: 55

El Javea Town Hall It is preparing specific contingency protocols for beaches in the face of the threat of COVID-19 and that, for the first time, will entail the establishment of maximum quotas on beaches and coves to ensure that the distances recommended by health authorities are kept.

The responsible councilman, Tony Miragall, has advanced what are the numbers that have initially been established in the main bathroom areas taking into account their dimensions and that each person has a space of about 4 square meters.

Capacity on the beaches

Given this limit of users, in the Arenal Beach a maximum of 2.000 users is established, 225 in La Grava, 200 in the granadella There 150 in Barraca or Portitxol.

The City Council has ruled out establishing a prior reservation system so that the occupation will be based on the arrival time and will be controlled by the security guards who will hire the Consistory and the informants who will make the Ministry available through the Agency of Security and Emergency Response.

Access to the beaches

In the Gravel and the Arenal, entrances and exits will be marked by which the bathers will access and in the case of the Arenal, recreational activities such as playing volleyball will be allowed as long as the occupancy level is not maximum.

Meanwhile, in Portitxol and Grandella the vehicle control system will be repeated with a barrier that will be lowered when the capacity is full. In this sense, a system will also be coordinated with the hoteliers on the beach so that their clients can pass if there are parking areas and even if the beach is already full.

Another consequence of the mandatory reduction in the number of bathers is that this year no public transport service (trenet) will be offered to Granadella, since the available parking bag is sufficient for the fixed capacity.

Miragall has pointed out that the number of bathers is not something fixed, but that it may vary once the occupation on the beach is visualized or if the guidelines set by the health authorities change.

The councilor has assessed the start of the beach season as calm and uneventful since phase 2 of the de-escalation process began. "At the moment, the influx is low and distances are being respected without the need to intervene", pointed out the councilor who wanted to thank the pedagogical work that Red Cross volunteers have been doing in the first days of beach surveillance service.

Miragall has also indicated that these days the signage with the decalogue of good uses on the beaches and some of the beach services such as the footbaths is being installed.
