"The boundaries do not separate the peoples, but unites them". That is the shared opinion of the mayors of Xàbia, José Chulvi, and El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Miguel Ángel García. Both held a meeting in Xàbia on Friday (the first since García became mayor) and expressed their satisfaction with the agreement reached at the limit of the granadella of Xàbia and the Puig de la Llorença of Poble Nou de Benitatxell.
Both municipalities have left behind the territorial discrepancies and their mayors agree that to conceive the territorial limit as a frontier responds to an outdated and simplistic approach. Now the final delimitation, which closes a conflict that lasted more than a decade, will be ratified by the Consell after both
populations finalize the technical part and configure an agreement that will pass through a plenary session.
Both councilors also agreed on the need to share sustainable development policies. The two towns are drafting new general plans. The Town hall poblero will create green corridors that will give continuity to the protected space of Granadella and they will connect it with the Puig de la Llorença, the Moraig and Llebeig coastlines and the traditional agricultural landscape of the terraces of vineyards.
