All the political parties have cast their votes in favor of initiating the necessary procedures and obtaining the concession to build a new bridge over the Gorgos River. This new access would link Génova street with Manuel Bordes street, thus reducing traffic on Avenida del Mediterráneo (first Montañar).
Although the entire municipal corporation has given its approval to this process, the opposition has requested more information and details of these procedures.
The spokesperson for Citizens, Enrique Escrivá, has asked about the situation of the expropriation of the final part of Calle Génova as well as the road improvement project that the government team has proposed when the bridge is a reality.
To these questions, the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, has indicated that the expropriation is in the process, "it is a complex procedure but it has already taken time in conversations with the affected parties." Regarding road improvement, the first mayor has outlined that it will be based on the approved mobility plan "and depending on the functionality given to one road, it will be studied in the other."
On the other hand, from the Popular Party, its spokesman Rosa Cardona, has questioned the fact of redrafting a project "when one of the popular government already exists." To this request, Chulvi has indicated that he has no record of this project, "but if the projects are out of date in just seven months, even if it exists, it must be updated."
Lastly, the Compromís request by its spokesman, Juan Cardona, has been to have been able to deal with the technical aspects of this project in a Town Planning Commission. Issue that has not been possible "due to the short time we had to answer this request", has indicated the Councilor for Urban Planning, Pepa Gisbert.
