Opinion of Rosa Cardona (PP): "Better late -and close to elections- than never"

November 11 from 2022 - 14: 00

If after 3 and a half years of municipal legislature there has been no time to govern, to manage and invest in Xàbia, the only alternative for the socialist government to emerge gracefully from this situation of inability to govern and manage is to throw one last cartridge with tax rebates. So welcome are the tax breaks!.
We are all grateful that in order to combat the galloping rise in prices that shakes the pockets of families and the cash of companies, measures are approved that suppose a respite. The problem is that much more could have been done, but above all, much sooner.

We would have preferred that the socialist government had listened to us, when in the middle of the pandemic we asked for the discount on the garbage rate, when the hotel industry was closed and the sector begged for a discount, and in the face of this Chulvi's words were "that the discount garbage could not be done, that garbage is a service that is provided and that has to be paid for, whether or not there is garbage to be collected”; and well that they told us to the opposition parties that we were always with the same issue. Instead, we have gone from not being able to discount a rate for an affected sector, to that in 2023 all residents will be exempt from paying the garbage rate, when coincidentally we are just a few months away from elections.

This is how we have gone from nothing having been done in 3 years, not even having maintained and improved what was done by previous governments, to everything that is intended to be done in 2023. This is how we have come to feel a frustrating unease, especially all by looking back and realizing everything that could have been done so far and has not been done. Especially, because it turns out that since the end of 2020, with the extraordinary suspension of the fiscal rules that limit spending in the City Councils, millions of euros that Xàbia had been collecting and that have remained unused were 'unfrozen'.

However, the worst political sin is being able to spend, being able to invest stored money and to everyone's surprise that it has not been done, something as unforgivable as it is obvious. You just have to ask yourself what projects, works, improvements or investments have seen the light for more than two years so far. None, beyond many announcements and too many excuses.

The penultimate to fall was the project to reform the first Montañar of Xàbia, that after its abrupt partial pedestrianization and improvable state of conservation, we officially found out in the middle of the last plenary session, that the intervention project in the Montañar, which they have suspiciously avoided showing us to the opposition, has been postponed until further notice in a drawer. A fiasco to which must be added the eternal paralysis suffered by the Auditorium works, the expansion of the Trenc d'Alba school, not having advanced a single millimeter in the modernization of the sanitation network or strategic projects that still do not come out, such as the future Industrial Estate, precisely because it is practically a project from the past, outdated and not updated, which cannot be sold as an attractive and competent Industrial Estate for the future.

With all this, it seems that those millions of euros 'thawed' and ready to invest, have been turned into a ball by an exhausted Chulvi government, without ideas or projects, but yes, with many millions of euros in the banks from his pocket of the neighbors.

So, for everyone's money to be in the bank, in that case, it is best that the money is in our pockets. For this reason, the fact that we are now being told that the good economic management of the government allows these tax exemptions, makes it clear that in reality there has been no economic management, but rather storage of money. Something serious, since the purpose of an administration is none other than to return what is collected in the form of services, infrastructure and in the maintenance of everything public, as well as to make the private sector prosper, which is paying for it with its taxes. The government should not govern just to guard money, but to manage it diligently.

The double standards of the speed and urgency with which they are processed according to which files, clear proof of this, is that this kind of tax reduction began on November 3 and on the 8th it was already announced to all means, without even having gone through the finance commission of the town hall, while the other side of the coin is that in view of the serious problem we have in citizen security, the file that regularizes the labor improvements of the Local Police has not yet been sent to the negotiating table.

For all this, from the PP of Xàbia we understand that it is good news that the City Council stops absorbing part of the money from the neighbors that the local government does not know how to manage, nor transform into projects, infrastructures, or improvements, and that, At this point in the legislature, this is what there is: only money in the banks and even so, we have no choice but to be grateful that we are given a tax reduction on historic vehicles, on licenses and authorizations, on the municipal Escoleta and of course in which we are exempt from the garbage tax, at least during 2023. The following year, if they feel like managing and returning their effort to the neighbors, we will have to work to reward them.

The only problem is that these measures are late. Late, especially because not having taken a single project, infrastructure or improvement forward in three and a half years, the money that the neighbors will save in 2023, could also have been saved during the previous years. However, better late -and close to elections- than never.

As long as the PP continues to use "el Bajo de Savall" as its headquarters in Javea, it shows that they remain anchored in "you more".

If they don't detach themselves from the past of characters like Savall and company. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR YOU, despite feeling right-wing.

The ethics of a party is demonstrated. separating the healthy apples from the ones that are not and destroying the ones around them.

Pink. or you make changes in the PP of Javea and you put yourself where he touches or we will continue to see you a "puppet" of Savall, the former minister and the straight-laced right-winger who has already shown his little or no ethics.

    • Luis says:

Totally agree but they can't separate the healthy apples because there aren't any or there's only one and the rest never allow it to come to anything. To separate the healthy you have to be healthy.

Totally agree with Willy. And I want to make it very clear that, as president of the Community of Owners of the Costa Blanca Building, I am - we are all - fed up with continuous flooding in our car park, which has seriously affected many of the garage owners when the water from those floods in them. And these waters come from the lack of extraction capacity of the pumps located on the side of the Canal de la Fontana bridge, since our sewage system empties into the City Hall, which is located along the canal, specifically on Canal Norte street. . When it rains a lot, this sewer gets blocked, so the water that accumulates in our car park cannot get out, causing these floods. And there are SEVEN, in less than a year. I suppose that Mrs. Cardona is aware of the problem we are experiencing, I believe that in the entire Arenal area, when these heavy rains fall, and that she is also aware that those responsible at the Town Hall not only have not done anything to solve them, but that they even have the audacity to blame our Community for not having the sewage outlet separated from the rainwater outlet, when it was the City Council itself that, many years ago, when it installed the sewage system, the one that brought them together, since before the we had separate. In short, it is a long history of inattention to owners who religiously pay all their taxes without getting the City Council to pay any attention to their logical protests. Let's see if Mrs. Cardona echoes this protest.

  3. Willy says:

The economic management of the City Council is a shame, the problem is that the money that belongs to the taxpayers is spent in the elections of next year 2023, it would be necessary to audit the public accounts and make it known to all citizens.
