A thousand young people will work as tourist assistants to inform on the beaches about safety and protection regulations

05 June 2020 - 14: 19

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, stressed that the Security and Emergency Response Agency (AVSRE), dependent on the Ministry of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, will hire 1.000 young people between 18 and 30 years of age as assistants to tourists on the beaches to offer information on safety and protection standards during the months of July and August.

These and these young tourist assistants will provide information on the safety and protection standards that citizens must follow to make the enjoyment of the beaches and the health of people compatible, while ensuring compliance.

To carry it out, the AVSRE has requested the Public Function to launch a temporary employment plan to regulate the call and hiring, which is scheduled for mid-June.

During the last ten days of June, young men and young women recruited will receive training on security and protection measures that must be transferred to tourists and beach users.

Tourist assistants will also provide information to the Ministry on the state of occupation of the beaches.

They will be distributed provincially and their allocation to municipalities will be based on their needs, depending on the degree of saturation of the beaches. In addition, they will wear an AVSRE uniform that will clearly identify them as personnel of the Generalitat, which will be classified C2 12 E015.

Puig held a video conference on Thursday with the president of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), Rubén Alfaro, and with the president of the FVMP Tourism Commission and the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, to detail this initiative of the Generalitat. AVSRE director José María Ángel has participated in the videoconference. The president will also hold a meeting next week with mayors of the Valencian Community to convey all the details of the action.

Puig has indicated that the municipalities will have, through this figure of "tourist assistant", "direct support" to report on rules for the safe use of beaches in the current pandemic situation of COVID-19. In this way, the "maximum safety on the beaches", has indicated the head of the Consell.

"'Living and safe Mediterranean' is much more than a slogan; what we want is to make security a fundamental asset of our tourism proposal and, therefore, we are taking firm, solid and safe steps", The president has also pointed out.

Features

The functions of the posts will be to ensure compliance with social distancing measures both in the dry zone and in the accesses; perform framed tasks in the field of communication and information in the Safe Beaches Guide document; collaborate in the control of access and capacity of beaches; ensure the correct use, by people who use the beaches, of the itineraries marked for entering and leaving the dry area; collaborate with the managing entities in ordering and planning an adequate enjoyment of the bathroom, as well as reporting incidents to the local Police through the communications that will be delivered to them.

In the event of an emergency, they will contact 112. They must also report daily, and whenever required by the corresponding body, on the situation of the beach in terms of occupation and incidents and they will have provincial mobility.

This temporary employment plan is justified by the emergency situation generated by COVID-19, before which the Generalitat is working and collaborating with the municipalities in order to prepare contingency plans.

The Consell is finalizing a decree on the use of the beaches that will incorporate the requirement to the municipalities of contingency plans to guarantee the enjoyment of the beaches in complete safety.
