The joy, the good atmosphere and the desire to run reigned in the 33rd Volta a Peu de Xàbia

There was a desire to race and this was made known in the 33rd Volta a Peu a Xàbia-Memorial José Albi this past Sunday. The rain did not prevent the first of the scoring tests of the Circuit a Peu Marina Alta. The appointment was full of new sensations: reunion with runners after two years, the first race for many and of course, once again feeling the encouragement and applause of the entire audience.

The Volta a Peu a Xàbia started with joy. Shortly before 10 in the morning, more than 1.300 athletes gathered under the starting arch located in front of the Palau d'Esports. With their eyes on the clock, the runners waited for the starting gun. 10 kilometers were far from their return to the starting point. 10 kilometers that passed through the usual route passing through the first Montañar, Arenal, Cala Blanca (5km), and back through the Segundo Montañar, walk to the Arenal Beach, First Montañar and arrival at the finish line.

The 10k were full of laughter but also moments of suffering, but the joy of the veterans infected the beginners so that they did not give up, which accompanied by the encouragement of the public, "the race was most enjoyable", commented the athletes.

The volunteers also played an important role in the good organization of the race carried out by the Club Atletisme Llebeig.

Winners

The fastest to finish the Volta a Peu a Xàbia were Youssef Ahatach in the men's category, from Dénia Corre, with a time of 32:51 and Mª Isabel Ferrer in women, from CA Llebeig, stopping the clock in 36:51. The men's podium was completed by Jorge Llàcer, in second place, and Salvador Crespo, in third place.

On the part of the girls, the second to reach the finish line was Cristina Roselló, with a time of 37:39 that ranked first in the senior category.

The good sporting atmosphere continued on Sunday with the children's tests. The little ones also took to the streets around the Palau d'esports to get their best run. About 400 boys and girls from all categories participated in this test.
