The PP of Xàbia criticizes the non-existent sidewalk in the section of the new port slope

November 29 from 2021 - 13: 43

The completion of the improvement and safety works on the slope of Caleta of the Port of Xàbia has been a pleasant image to this area of the town but this action has a small deficiency as criticized by the spokesperson for the Popular Party of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, in the last plenary session. The narrow sidewalk of this stretch of road is the complaint of the Popular.

And it is that, a little more than six months ago, when the works had begun, from the ranks of the PP they already questioned in another plenary session because Ports had not planned a sidewalk in the works of the slope of the port area and the executive was urged to request the responsible institution to correct this project error.

Now, and with the works finished, the sidewalk is practically non-existent, a question that the Popular Party criticizes again, "couldn't it have been expanded by throwing the wall back? Not even one person can fit in," says Cardona.

In this matter, the Mayor of Xàbia, José ChulviHe explained to the popular spokesperson that this project has had several difficulties in its execution, "it is an emergency work since the priority was the safety of the people." Chulvi added that setting back the wall was a more complicated matter, "but this section has an alternative passage on the front, which is the one that joins the port area and borders the fishing and sports port."

The first mayor pointed out that in the future an improvement and accessibility intervention could be carried out on the same slope since "the built staircase provides service to the maintenance of the green areas installed on the slope and an elevator could be installed there."

Look at the headline of the news, which says 'about' instead of 'sidewalk' and is a bit confusing. Thanks.

    • Cora says:

There is the promenade of the port across the street, I honestly do not see the reason to criticize the work for this. I have lived there for a year in the port area and took daily walks, and the normal thing is to walk as close to the sea as possible.

      Regards
