The Consell has ratified the emergency contracting of the works for the defense of slopes in the port of Xàbia and of the corresponding management, health and safety coordination and drafting of the execution project for a total value of 1.566.292 euros.
The port of Xàbia has a unique access by the road that runs between the port and a slope of considerable height, in which different instabilities have historically occurred, which have been the subject of several reinforcement works in recent years.
After the heavy rains that occurred last November and after a detailed inspection by the technicians of the Department of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, different instabilities were observed in the slopes between the access road to the port of Xàbia and the Street Caleta, with serious danger for pedestrians and for road traffic, as well as for the houses located in the upper parcels of the slope and adjacent buildings.
Faced with this situation, the technicians of the General Subdirectorate of Ports, Airports and Coasts have considered it necessary to immediately repair the affected slopes, to allow their definitive support, for which it has been resolved, by the Department of Territorial Policy, Works Public and Mobility, declare the emergency contracting of the works.
