Xàbia has hosted, today Friday, the second Roundtable created between the Town hall, the Ministry, the Provincial Council and different social agents, technicians and security forces after the fire last September that affected more than 800 hectares.
The different technicians of the public administrations have explained what have been the actions carried out and which are being carried out at the moment. Shortly, from the Department, the exhaustive monitoring plan for the regeneration of the granadella And for that, it is proposed to create a volunteer program with citizens. The Director General of Forest Fire Prevention, Delia Álvarez, pointed out that the plan would work together with Natura 2000. As planned, this monitoring program would be launched in the coming weeks.
Regarding the investment that is going to be allocated now, from the Valencian Government have committed 150.000 euros that will go to work on landscape recovery, removal of remains of the fire and creation of sashes to secure the land from the slopes.
Also, on the part of the Provincial Council of Alicante, an investment of 200.000 euros was announced to protect the urban-forest interface and other 42.000 euros to treat the areas that were saved of the fire. Within this area, the Diputación engineer explained that in the area of Cansalades will extend the security perimeter of 8 to 16 meters, "and in unburned areas, the forest will be cleared to reduce the density of trees and thus allow the healthy growth of vegetation on the one hand and avoid the risk of fire on the other".
