Compromís per Xàbia asks the City Council to subscribe to Valencian language magazines

31 July 2023 - 11: 33

In the last plenary session, the councilor for Compromís per Xàbia presented a motion in which she requested that the Town hall subscribe to the magazines 'Cavall Fort', 'Enderrock', 'Camacuc', 'El Tiempo' and 'Lengua Nacional' in order to promote their own culture and continue advancing in rights and freedoms.

This request was given as a result of the fact that on July 8, the Councilor for Culture of VOX in the Burriana City Council, ended the subscription that the City Council had for said magazines.

Català pointed out that "the censorship of culture cannot be a political weapon to put an end to our reason for being Valencians".

This proposal was amended by the PSPV, who requested that if the Consistory had to subscribe to some magazines in Valencian, they should be published in the Valencian Community (only Camacuc and El Temps are published in the Community), according to councilor Josep Vicent Miralles " since it allows us to reinforce our own cultural industry and we help to maintain jobs in the sector”.

At this request, the Councilor for Culture, Mavi Pérez, asked to leave the motion on the table to be able to study with the person in charge of the municipal library which of the five Valencian magazines are the most in demand by residents and subscribe to them, in addition to maintaining the already active subscriptions.

The mayor pointed out that she had met with the director of the Municipal Library, who confirmed that the City Council is already subscribed to the weekly El Temps and announced that the Library will ask the publishers for copies of these magazines to later consider the subscription.

Once studied, the subject will be debated with the technical reports in a forthcoming commission on Culture.

Does this girl know where she is?

    Hello,
Today, I do not think it is a priority and also for that there are two large public libraries in Jávea that can subscribe for magazines and newspapers that can be read on the Internet in public places.
Also in this case, that they do this with the same number of magazines or newspapers in Spanish.
In case, we residents and also the thousands of Latin Americans who pay their taxes and who have made the effort to learn Spanish do not exist!

I think that if Compromis is so interested in these magazines, that they subscribe and then give them away to their affiliates.
I, for example, and I think many other people, are not interested at all and I don't see why the City Council has to spend my money, or that of others, on something totally useless instead of using it on important things. and that concern us all, whether we are Valencians or not.

  5. Nothing in Spanish, of course. says:

Unfortunately this is how they break their backs for us nationalists.
    Butt separatist fantasy, phenomenal.

    • Tony says:

All the rest is in Spanish, so you don't have to get defensive as if the devil had appeared.

      • All in Valencian, of course. says:

Okay Toni, I'll do what you tell me and I'll think what you tell me.
Nothing like a nationalist to tell me what to think and do with my life.
        Thank you.

        • Tony says:

I had to reread my answer to see at what point I have told you what you have to do with your life, or that I am a nationalist, and I can't find it. Nor do I think I have told you what you have to think or not. I honestly don't know how you came to that conclusion. All the best.

      • Tony, must read: says:

"so you don't need to get defensive as if the devil has appeared to you."
That is, according to you I CANNOT GET DEFENSIVE
You tell me how to behave with my own life.
But you insist that you don't tell me anything.
Follow your path and let me follow mine.
Give your opinion of the news, as I do, but allow me to express my OWN OPINION about what I want.

  6. Luis says:

That's it! we are all saved. Thanks to the lady so cute and smiling, all you have to do is subscribe to some magazines. That's the level...

    • Tony says:

The person you mention has not talked about saving anyone. If you don't know what to hold onto to make a derogatory comment, that's your problem.
