The hydrants at Poble Nou de Benitatxell were a solution in the fight against the fire that occurred last September in La granadella. Therefore, now, the consistory has been put, hands to work, to review one by one, and check if they have suffered any damage and can repair it to ensure proper operation.
During the fire, the council of Security of the Poble Nou de Benitatxell, put at the disposal of the Firemen a guide, elaborated by Civil Protection, which collects the 81 hydrants with which the municipality counts. Thanks to this guide, it was possible to know the location of the fire hydrants during the fire, which facilitated the work of extinction and prevented that the fire will jump to the urbanizations.
The mayor of the area, Dirk Rheindorf, stated that "The fire department that worked in the extinction confirmed that the guide of the hydrants was key to save the houses and that the fire was not over, so we must ensure that each and every one of them work perfectly". Rheindorf explained that "The hydrant is a device that supplies a large amount of water in a short time, and also allows the connection of hoses and fire fighting equipment".
