The City Council will grant 1.500 euros to workers who were affected by the restrictions of a decreed state of alarm to stop the spread of COVID-19. This was approved today, unanimously, in the extraordinary plenary session that was held in the Javea Town Hall.

The municipal corporation has given the green light to the bases that regulate the granting of economic aid to self-employed workers and mutuals with activities affected by the pandemic. The agreement has also served to dismiss a particular claim to this local line of support.

Following the administrative procedure, the ordinance regulating these grants will now be published in the Official Gazette of the Province and the municipal bulletin board so that, later, the official announcement will be published on the same platforms, which will open within 10 days to submit applications. .

However, all the information is already available on the municipal website so that applicants can prepare the necessary documentation and it has been assigned to staff of the Creama to advise all those interested in these grants, for which the City Council has reserved a game of 1 million and which are included in the Economic and Social Reactivation Plan promoted by the Local Administration as a result of the health crisis.

The opposition requests to extend the aid

Although the entire municipal Corporation has voted in favor of approving these grants, which were already agreed upon during the state of alarm, it has requested the possibility of studying people who, for some reason, fall outside those bases or those of the Generalitat.

One of the issues is that of entrepreneurs / self-employed who registered during the first quarter of 2020 and this period is not included in the aid; "I urge the government team to look for all possible solutions for those who are in an economic situation that may become complicated towards the end of the year, as well as for the self-employed who have been left out of aid from the City Council and the Generalitat, for having discharged between January 1 and March 14, 2020 ", has indicated the spokesperson for Ciudadanos, Enrique Escrivá.

For her part, the Popular Party spokesperson, Rosa Cardona, has indicated the possibility of allocating part of the grant from the Provincial Council to these people.

From Compromís, Vicent Colomer He has also expressed the intention of his training to be able to contribute part of the surplus to all families who are in a difficult situation.

In response to these requests, the mayor, José Chulvi, has indicated that Xàbia is one of the municipalities in the province of Alicante that has allocated the most resources to help in the economic recovery "around 6 million euros and we have cared for all families in a disadvantaged situation. As for the grant from the Provincial Council, it comes with conditions and as a city council we cannot allocate it as we wish".

And it is that, in addition to this direct line, it has articulated an Urgent Occupation Social Program (500.000 euros) for the temporary hiring of personnel in a limited economic situation, earmarked 2 million euros for financial aid and social care, one million for bonuses in the receipts of drinking water and also has a job maintenance program with help to meet the social security quota for companies and self-employed after the summer.

Another action to support the local economy has been the suppression of the tax for the occupation of public roads and the possibility of expanding the hotel terraces.
