El Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, will propose to all groups with municipal representation the signing of an institutional declaration so that the Javea Town Hall support the request submitted by the Federation of
Sociedades Musicales de la Comunitat (FSMCV) to the Ministry of Culture to rectify a sentence contained in Royal Decree 229/2021 of March 30, which states that “the origin of the Valencian music bands is due to a movement mimetic to that of the Catalan choral groups ”.
As Chulvi points out, including this “erroneous and incomplete” quote in the decree that declares the Valencian musical societies as a Representative Manifestation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage “has generated an unnecessary conflict at a political and social level, obscuring the truly important fact: that today Today, Valencian musical societies have the recognition they deserve and that the State and Community Governments recognize the important work they do and their social, cultural and economic contribution to Spain and the Valencian Community ”.
The municipal official emphasizes the great progress that this declaration represents at the level of conservation, protection and dissemination of a cultural asset such as musical societies.
From Xàbia they want to join this public recognition of the work that musical societies do and ask as the City Council, “that that phrase of Royal Decree Law 229/2021 of March 30 be rectified as requested by the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community ”.
