Xàbia is part of the Alliance of the Valencian Central Districts

The mayors of the cities of Gandía, Ontinyent, Alcoi, Xàtiva, Dénia and Xàbia, met in the town hall of the Ducal City to launch the Alliance of the Valencian Central Regions. It is a common project to promote their growth and a joint exit from the crisis, at the same time that they establish themselves as a protest group to demand structures and services from higher authorities.

An Alliance that started with a meeting in which topics of common interest were addressed for all the localities involved. They have been concretely, the mayors of Ontinyent and president of the Diputación de Valencia, Jorge Rodríguez; the mayor of Alcoi, Antonio Francés; the mayor of Xàtiva, Roger Cerdà; the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi those who have come to this meeting where the mayor of Gandia, Diana Lorena Morant and Deputy Mayor Milvaques acted as host. The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent * Grimalt could not attend the meeting but also form part of this alliance.

The mayor of Gandia stressed the importance of the change that has lived the Valencia region after the last local and regional elections where the sign has changed many of the municipalities "the arrival of progressive governments in these cities and the Generalitat Valenciana offers a new hopeful picture to activate a joint project that helped in the central regions to overcome the crisis and thrive".

Morant explained that this alliance of the central regions intends to work together to improve crucial issues such as industry, trade, culture, college, innovation, economy and "especially the occupation, which is the main concern of all governments and a cross-matter of the various sectors on which we will work".

The ultimate goal of this alliance is none other than to improve the quality of life of all the people who inhabit them. Adding the inhabitants of these cities add a population of more than 300.000 inhabitants, an economic and social force so large that it can have "a very large capacity for influence wherever strategic decisions are made that affect them"Morant said.

The mayors of all these cities expressed their commitment to developing agreements this and future meetings, which always have the horizon improving the quality of life and promoting quality employment and stable of all inhabitants.

Among the most interesting proposals were discussed at the meeting include the creation of a supra-municipal economic and social council with executive ability to press regional and state administrations; the design of a strategic plan for Industry and Innovation; creating an annual forum of public universities; creating a network of innovation or cooperation by the tourism and cultural promotion.

They also spoke of claims, some historical ones, that they will try to facilitate with their union of forces. Among them, some infrastructures stand out, such as the construction of the Gandia-Oliva-Dénia train.

Finally, this alliance will also serve other objectives such as the demand for aid to companies, the simplification of procedures and export costs, the facilities for the creation of new companies, the improvement and empowerment of the industry, the collaboration between universities or the improvement of the current protection of the environment.

Meeting of mayors of the Alliance of Central Regions

It was agreed to convene a Forum for the month of October with a purpose: to initiate the creation of an Economic and Social Council of the Valencian Central Comarcas. This meeting, which will take place in Ontinyent, will consist of three working groups: a first presentation; a second to mark the economic, productivity and business objectives, and a third to outline the lines to follow in University and Innovation, which will also have the presence of the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, who will sponsor the project.

The Economic and Social Council will collect the experience and opinions of business, economic and social agents. In the meeting held in Gandia, too, he talked about the possibility of inviting to participate in the CES at universities, county business associations, unions, associations and other key actors in the economy and productivity such as safety Ontinyent or other entities.
