Xàbia approves tendering the waste transfer service with the abstention of the opposition

The ordinary plenary session held yesterday afternoon in the Javea Town Hall among several issues, the tender for the transfer service for green garden waste deposited in Catarroges was approved.

With the votes in favor of the PSOE and Ciudadanos por Jávea, and the abstention of the PP, Ciudadanos and Compromís, the specifications for the urgent contracting of this service went ahead. The contract will go out to tender for more than one million euros, specifically, 1.119.418 euros per year with a duration of two years that can be extended.

This is a complicated tender. The spokesmen of the opposition expressed their doubts before the documents presented. Rosa Cardona of the PP made mention of the low penalties that will be imposed on the company responsible for the possibility of failing to comply with infractions.

For his part, the Compromís spokesman, Juan Cardona, justified his party's abstention for not having modified the waste collection and transfer model, which has shown that it is not adequate.

"The Catarroges plot may end up becoming a Ramblars 2.0"

From Citizens Xàbia, Enrique Escrivá, complained that the specifications did not contemplate fire prevention "after what happened in Ramblars" and pointed out that once again the opinion of the rest of the corporation has not been received to carry out this contract.

Escrivá made ugly, in the first place, the lack of participation of the opposition groups in the preparation of the contract for the transfer service of green waste in the new plot of Catarroges, "above all, taking into account that the previous contests were deserted or they had to withdraw like in 2020.”

According to Escrivá, “it is difficult to understand that these specifications are only limited to asking companies to offer a lower price, both for the ton and for the surveillance service, especially after the fires that we have suffered at the Ramblars plant, with the last one that lasted three months and the causes of which we still do not know.”

For this same reason, -continued the mayor-, "knowing that the Achilles' heel of the Ramblars plant has been the security and control measures, and after not a single improvement has been made to the Ramblars transfer plant during After 11 years of Chulvi's government, it is difficult to understand that no planning or fire prevention safety strategy or other contingencies in the service to be provided in Catarroges has been requested in the specifications, beyond requesting a water tank for emergencies. They have left everything conditioned to some security measures for the plot that will be introduced later, with the Credit Modification approved, but at this time we do not know what these measures will consist of, nor what type of cameras or thermal sensors there will be, nor how many hydrants, beyond the one that has already been installed”.

In other words, “it is difficult to understand why we are putting out to tender a green transfer service, for which fire-fighting measures are hardly requested from the future winner, when we do not even know yet what fire-fighting measures the site will have.”

The Ciudadanos spokesperson has indicated that in his opinion, "the Catarroges plant will become Ramblars 2.0".

Likewise, in the plenary session, a modification of credits was unanimously authorized, which includes an item of 600.000 euros for the adequacy and security of the municipal plot of Catarroges where the green transfer service will be provided from now on.
