About a hundred residents of Xàbia and tourists have gathered, this noon, at the gates of the Town hall showing their rejection of construction in the Portitxol area. A PAI (Comprehensive Adaptation Program) that affects more than 64.000 square meters of land.
The protest started with the informative words of the person who has promoted the demonstration, Bernhard Feiner, "I have called this concentration to the situation that may be created in the future in Xàbia. I have verified that there are currently 1.700 villas for sale in Xàbia and I consider that no more construction is necessary".
After his words, the neighbors have expressed their opinions and the presence of the mayor, José Chulvi, has caused the protesters to ask for explanations and answers. Chulvi explained that at the moment it has not been approved to be built, "but the process of exposure to the public of the project. A regulatory process in which neighbors or affected parties can present their allegations during 45 days". Likewise, the mayor has stressed that the more than 60.000 meters of land included in this PAI, "They do not belong to a protected area or cliffs".
José Chulvi He recalled that during his term of office several PAIs have been rejected and with the drafting of the new General Plan, 7.5 has protected millions of square meters of developable land.
