Political unit in Xàbia in the face of the coronavirus health crisis

17 March 2020 - 17: 39

The mayor, José F. Chulvi, and the Board of Spokesmen of the MI Javea Town Hall formed by Isabel Bolufer, spokesperson for the municipal Socialist group, Rosa Cardona, spokesman for the Popular municipal group, Juan Ortolá, spokesman for the municipal group, Ciudadanos por Jávea, Juan Cardona, spokesman for the municipal group Compromis, and Enrique Escrivá, spokesperson for the municipal group Ciudadanos, representing the entire municipal corporation, issued the following statement:

Given the health, social and economic emergency that we are experiencing, the spokespersons of all the political groups of the Xàbia City Council consider it essential to make this joint statement.

All and all public representatives are united in the task of helping to move our people forward. That is why we will act in a coordinated way, sharing any information, jointly promoting the initiatives and all facing one of the challenges that lie ahead.

At the moment there are no differences. Only the firm will to face the emergency en bloc; Responding responsibly to the mandate that our neighbors gave us when they chose us to represent them.

Likewise, we want to send a message of strength, encouragement and responsibility to citizens. Staying home, as much as possible, is the most sensible action. If we want to take care of ourselves and the people we love, we have no choice but to break the chain of infections. And there is no more effective way than this: hygiene and confinement.

Movement limitation measures are not trivial or arbitrary, but of absolute necessity. Our generation had not experienced such a situation and we have to live up to it. Whatever is in our hands, in each of us as individuals, we have to do well. There is no point therefore putting yourself at risk to break the quarantine. Nor does it make sense to do compulsive consumption. Let's be reasonable and think that everything we do has consequences for society as a whole. Let's think about the physical health of our society, but also about ethical health; in the strength of our bonds of coexistence, which have to be stronger than fear and selfishness.

On the contrary, right now the priority is the health crisis. But we are also aware of the serious economic and social panorama that is being generated. Many families, companies and workers in Xàbia face serious consequences and have to know that they will have their Town Hall next to them. We will do whatever is necessary and mobilize the resources that are necessary to mitigate the effects of economic paralysis.

Therefore, we will prioritize attention to people. The well-being of people and the survival of companies and jobs will be above all other expenses. Until we return to normality, the works, the parties, the programming of all kinds, etc ... come to the background.

In addition, we will be very attentive to the measures taken by the Government of Spain and the Government of the Generalitat Valenciana, to coordinate the response. The situation changes almost daily and, in this sense, we have to be firm in our decision, but also flexible in terms of implementation measures.

Finally, we want to send a message of thanks to all those who are doing their best in these difficult hours: health and security personnel, commerce and public services, the media ... neighbors who care each other and care for the most vulnerable, all those who give up part of their comfort for collective security.

This too shall pass. Let us have no doubt. And we will come out stronger as a society, stronger and more united, even more proud to be part of this great people.

Lots of encouragement, lots of strength, lots of responsibility.

Mayor, please IMMEDIATELY ban any work from Jávea.
It is their responsibility, and the life of the citizens of Jávea depends on it.
This is not the time to think about the votes and yes about the life or death of a People.

    Hello, good morning.

Sorry, I am a Spanish beginner.

It is wonderful that we are receiving so much news from Javea and Denia. Is there any way that we, at home, can help those of our friends in Javea who cannot work. I would like to donate some money to help with their shopping needs and I am sure that many people would want to help also. So many people in Javea have made us feel welcome and many worked in our houses and gardens and always with respect and kindness. Maybe there is already a website set up and I have not seen it.
    Best wishes and stay safe.
