PSOE awards Tetma the new Xàbia garbage contract

Earlier this morning it was held, in the Javea Town Hall, the extraordinary plenary session for the award of the contract for the urban solid waste collection and transport service, management of the
Ecopark, cleaning of public areas and beaches of the municipality.

With the votes in favor of the socialist municipal group and the abstention of all opposition groups (PP, Compromís, C's and Ciudadanos por Jávea), the award, for an amount of 5.939.014,67 euros per year, has been approved for the Valencian company Tetma.

The award of this important municipal service in which the great novelties and quality improvements provided by the company have been valued is for the next 8 years.

Councilwoman Services, Kika MataIn his speech, he highlighted the substantial change that the new service will entail; "adapted to the dimensions of our town, with three urban centers and a large spread out". Mata has clarified that this proposal has been the best valued by the technicians with 90,126 points.

For their part, from the ranks of the opposing bank, all the spokespersons have agreed that their abstention is due, on the one hand, to the lack of citizen participation in the preparation of the specifications of this contract. Likewise, the spokesperson for Ciudadanos Xàbia (Cs Xàbia), Enrique Escrivá, has indicated that a specific maintenance plan should have been outlined in high season, as well as the volume of capacity of the containers.

For his part, the spokesman for Compromís, Juan Cardona, despite criticizing the lack of citizen and political participation to contribute more visions to the true needs of the municipality, has positively valued the point of incorporating the figure of the environmental coordinator.

The spokesperson for Citizens for Jávea, Juan Ortolá, has highlighted the great work from the Service department for the preparation of these specifications but has criticized the "lack of transparency in the processing, since we have not been able to access all the documentation corresponding to this contract."

Rosa Cardona, spokesman for the PP, has indicated that "we come from a totally outdated contract so the minimum change that is made will be positive, but we do not know if the needs will really be covered and the specifications are complete."

News in the cleaning and solid waste service

The mayor of Services has remarked that this contract will mean an obvious improvement and a total modernization of the service, which will be implemented gradually from the next few months. The new hire will renew the total of container islands making them more accessible, more visually integrated, with better maintenance and with a chip system that will allow the company to know when they are full and not have to go around with trucks unnecessarily.

In addition, among the many changes, Mata reviews the incorporation of the fifth container (only for organic waste), the renewal of litter bins and the expansion of its installation in tourist areas, as well as the improvement of the management of the Ecopark and Green dots, which will have surveillance cameras and will be closed with an access control system so that each neighbor goes to the one that corresponds to him by area of ​​residence.

On recycling, Mata has indicated that a specific team will be created, with three environmental educators for environmental awareness, information and education tasks and there will be six composters.

With regards to street and beach cleaning, the Councilor for Services has outlined the change in the entire machinery, which will become electric and therefore less polluting and much quieter, reorganization of the worker teams, the temporality of the service will be improved with greater dedication during the three weeks with the greatest influx of tourists and there will be a drone for inspections in coves.
