The New Year's Eve celebration is one of the highlights during Christmas in Xàbia. For a few years now, in the historic center of Xàbia, the celebration of the chimes has been brought forward to midday to create a more familiar festive atmosphere.

In 2023, the last day of the year comes with a novelty, the celebration of the San Silvestre race at 10:00 a.m. For the first time, the streets of the historic center of Xàbia will be filled with runners, walkers, dogs and costumes to say goodbye to the year in a different and fun way.

New Year's Eve party in Xàbia

Xàbia welcomes the new year twice. The celebration of the bell ringing at noon brings together, every year, a large number of attendees of all ages. The music and fun begin at 12:00 p.m. with the ringing of 12 bells.

This event, organized by the Merchants Association, is characterized because instead of 12 grapes, 12 segments of tangerines are taken.

And given the hugs, kisses, and wishes for a good start to the new year, although in advance, the fun day begins for the little ones with different activities.

At night, and now, before the end of 2023, dozens of people come with their grapes and bottles of cava or cider, from 23:30 p.m., to the vicinity of the Plaza de la Iglesia to celebrate the chimes. .

Schedule

As we have indicated, Xàbia celebrates the end of the year twice. The children's bell ringing will be at 12:00 p.m., which is accompanied by music and recreational activities, although from 11:30 a.m. people are approaching the square. At night, and at the end of the year, people gather before midnight in the Plaza to experience, first-hand, the 00 chimes.

Location

The festival is celebrated, as is tradition, in the Plaza de la St. Bartholomew Church.
