With the Friday of Sorrows that takes place this March 22, Holy Week begins. Religious acts are the protagonists of these festivals. In Xàbia, despite not experiencing a great celebration of these days compared to other cities or towns, in 2024, the programming includes an extensive program of events with the collaboration of the new Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary.
Acts of the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary
Both the two churches in the municipality and other religious spaces host different celebrations. The Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary has been involved this year in contributing three new acts. One was the past Friday, March 15, 4th Friday of Lent, with the services in honor of the Mare de Déu de la Soletat that took place in the Augustinian Convent.
Also, for this Friday of pain, the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary has organized a day of Veneration to the Mare de Déu dels Dolors in the Parish of San Bartolomé from 9:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. In the afternoon, at 18:30 p.m. the Rosary of the 7 Sorrows will take place and at 19:00 p.m. the Holy Mass.
El Passion Saturday, on March 23, the Via Matris de la Mare de Déu de la Soletat will take place. A celebration that recovers the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary and Passion, Sorrows and Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Most Holy Mary. The tour will leave at 07:30 a.m. from the Agustinas Convent and the Sorrows will be prayed in the different chapels.
Acts of the Parish of San Bartolomé
The celebration of Holy Week continues on Sunday March 24 with the Palm Sunday, there will be mass in the Augustinian Convent at 9:00 a.m., at 10:00 a.m. Eucharist in the Parish of San Bartolomé and in the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels in La Plana.
At 11:30 a.m. the blessing of Palms will take place in the Agustinas Convent and at the end, in a procession to the parish to celebrate the Holy Mass at 12:00 p.m. In the afternoon, at 19:00 p.m., Eucharist.
Both the Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26 There will be confessions from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 17:00 p.m. to 19:00 p.m. A mass will be celebrated at 19 p.m.
El holy wednesday, there will again be confessions from 17:00 p.m. to 19:00 p.m. and mass at 19:00 p.m.
On Holy Thursday there will be mass at 17:00 p.m. in the Agustinas Convent and in the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels in La Plana. At 18:00 p.m. and 19:00 p.m. there will be the Eucharist and at 19:30 p.m. the mass.
At 22:00 p.m. the Holy Hour will be celebrated.
El Friday March 29, Good Friday, the Via Crucis will be carried out from the parish of San Bartolomé to the hermitage of Calvari starting at 07:00 hours.
At 16:00 p.m. there will be the Holy Offices in the Convent of the Agustinas, at 17:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels in La Plana and at 17:30 p.m. in the Parish of San Bartolomé.
The Holy Burial Procession will leave from the Plaza de la Iglesia at 19:30 p.m. and will travel through the streets of the Historic Center of Xàbia. The procession will feature the departure of several images.
El Saturday March 30 At 19:30 p.m. the Easter Vigil will be celebrated in the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels in La Plana and at 22:00 p.m. the Easter Vigil in the Parish of San Bartolomé.
El Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday There will be five celebrations: at 9:00 a.m. Holy Mass in the Augustinian Convent, at 10:00 a.m. Eucharist in the Church of St. Bartholomew and Holy Mass in the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels in La Plana.
At 12:00 p.m. the Eucharist will be celebrated in the Church of San Bartolome and at 19:00 p.m. the Eucharist.
Parish of Our Lady of Loreto
El Palm Sunday; at 9:00 a.m., at 11:00 a.m. and at 19:00 p.m. there will be the Eucharists. Confessions will be half an hour before each celebration.

El Holy Monday, Tuesday and WednesdayFrom 18:30 p.m. to 19:30 p.m. there will be confessions and at 18:45 p.m. the Rosary will be prayed. At 19:30 p.m. the mass will be celebrated. Furthermore, only on Wednesday, at 20:00 p.m., a Community Penitential with individual confession will be held.
El holy Thursday at 18:00 p.m., Eucharist with boys and girls. Confessions half an hour before each celebration. At 20:00 p.m. Solemn Eucharist of the Lord's Supper. Confessions half an hour before. Beginning of the prayer sessions in front of the monument until 16:00 p.m. on Good Friday. Inscription at the entrance of the temple.
