El Javea Town Hall consolidates its commitment to childhood by creating a specific council, which will be assumed by the mayor Montse Villaverde, who is already in charge of Education and Citizen Participation. The resolution of this new delegation has been signed by the mayor, José Chulvi.
Villaverde explained that in recent years, in the departments he leads, they have a long history of working on projects for children in which programs have been developed from the perspective of the youngest children and attended to those needs detected.
The socialist mayor has indicated as the most ambitious project, "In 2011 the Department of Citizen Participation created the youth participation body known as Consell de Xiquets i Xiquetes, which has since collected the vision of childhood and favored its democratic participation, real and effective, as a full citizen."
Xàbia, a child-friendly city
Montse has detailed that in recent months "It has gone a step further in order to promote its well-being and develop the rights embodied in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, so the City Council is preparing a Strategic Plan for Children and Adolescents and has requested UNICEF recognition as Childhood Friendly City. "
Within this plan includes the creation of this new council of childhood from which will deepen in the development of measures and projects that increase the democratic participation of the youngest of the municipality and will invigorate the actions to get the certificate of friendly city of the childhood.
