The six candidates for mayor of Xàbia discuss the good and future of the town

In an electoral campaign, the most awaited appointment is the debate or confrontation of ideas between the different political parties. In Xàbia, yesterday Tuesday, it took place in the House of Culture, the political debate between the six candidates for mayor of the town.

The debate, organized by the podcast platform Dont veu, he wrote down different topics so that each one of the candidates could contribute their point of view. Juan Ortolá (Citizens by Jávea), Bernhard Feiner (Podemos), Vicent Colomer (Compromís), Rosa Cardona (PP), Enrique Escrivá (Citizens) and José Chulvi (PSPV-PSOE) maintained a fluid debate. Several of the alcaldables agreed on the same lack of needs for Xàbia as it is the issue of housing and the quality of services.

In addition, the General Structural Plan approved by the PSOE focused a large part of the first part of the debate. The five candidates showed their disagreement with Chulvi about how this important document had been carried out, alleging that "there has been no citizen participation or party spokespersons" and added that several points of the PGE do not meet the needs of Xàbia in the long term. The Mayor of Xàbia and current socialist candidate explained that "It has had the opinions of neighbors and has clearly thought of Xàbia and its future. We could not allow Xàbia's plan to remain outdated."

Tourism

On tourism, the candidates impacted on the lack of offering quality services such as "a public transport in conditions, with more frequency, sustainability, public services that meet all the needs and give good image to tourists"They said.

In the debate and in each of the blocks, the alcaldables announced some of the proposals of their electoral programs. The Popular Party proposed the option of offering also a cultural and gastronomic offer, within promoting Xàbia and attracting tourism. Citizens pointed out the importance of creating routes, creating bike lanes and improving infrastructures.

On the other hand, since Podemos, they are committed to promoting sports and creating the Xàbia brand with processed agricultural products. Commitments and Citizens for Jávea agreed on the need to provide good services, quality services that attract tourists to stay or return to Xàbia.

For the PSOE, Chulvi pointed out the need to create a business model that does not change life, "That is why we are committed to sustainability. Protecting is not prohibiting but preserving what we have".

Housing

Each political formation has its proposal on housing and the need for young people not to migrate from Xàbia. Most agree on the need to create a public housing park. Citizens for Jávea proposes to provide facilities for young people in rental housing. We can bet to rehabilitate the houses of the historic center instead of creating new ones.

Compromís is committed to launching a Local Housing Agency to promote the social rental system for young people and vulnerable sectors and coincides with the rehabilitation of the houses in the historic center.
