The beaches of Xàbia start the capacity control

10 July 2020 - 14: 55

El Javea Town Hall has launched, today Friday, the surveillance service that will be in charge of controlling the gauges on beaches and coves, as well as the regulation of the barriers that will prevent vehicles from getting off at Portitxol and granadella when the parking lots are full.

Until now, the Local Police, with the help of Civil Protection, has been in charge of this control of traffic safety during weekends, days of maximum influx, but from today the service will be daily and extends to degree of occupation on the beach to prevent situations that favor the spread of COVID-19.

As explained by the Beaches councilor, Tony Miragall, there will be a total of 9 controllers: 2 in Granadella, 2 in Portitxol, 3 in Arenal and 1 in La Grava. Also 1 controller at the barrier that prevents driving down to Ambolo, a cove closed due to the risk of landslides.

In the coves, the service will start at around 9 am and there will be personnel both checking that space is not exceeded in the bathing area and the degree of occupancy of the car parks, since when they are full the barrier at the accesses will be lowered.

Meanwhile, in the Grava beach and the Arenal are marking entrances with ropes and walkways for bathers to access.

The capacity has been calculated so that each person has a space of about 4 m2. Thus, a maximum of 2.000 users have been established in Arenal, 225 in La Grava, 200 in La Granadella and 150 in Barraca or Portitxol.
