With a plenary hall filled with neighbors claiming investments in the municipality, the opposition of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell asserted its majority to refuse to be paved and light the streets of the town.
The government team of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell (Movimiento Red, PP and Pideb) carried out a full modification of credits last night that allowed 691.229 to invest euros from the liquid cash surplus of 2016, which rose to 2,8 million, in financially sustainable works and that contributed to the quality of life of the neighbors. Among the investments, they included paving and installing street lighting in streets where 40 has not acted since.
They also undertook projects that are committed to renewable energy and energy savings, such as installing solar panels in the municipal pool, 60.000 euros. The legal report endorsed that the investments in asphalting, lighting and installation of solar panels in the pool fulfilled all the requirements of the Expenditure Rule of the Law of Sustainability and Rationality of the Administration.
However, the opposition (Compromís, Independents de la Marina and the mayor Toni Colomer) rejected, for the time being, the investments proposed by the government team. They alleged that they saw legal doubts and that they preferred to leave it on the table. The mayor, Josep Femenia, described the decision of the councilors of the opposition of "irresponsible".
The technical report warns of "disrepair" of the pavement of the roads and the urgency of resurfacing them. The technicians identify as the highest priority those in the Encinas, Dalias and Begonias areas, in the urbanization of the top of the sun; those of the urbanization of Les Fonts; the Caminet del Pou de l'Abiar, the
La Joya urbanization. They are all roads received by the town hall that have not been resurfaced for 40 years. It is also proposed to replace public lighting streetlights that do not work and install new ones.
The luminaires to be installed are, in total, 59. The investment in asphalt was 424.213 euros and the lighting, 84.135 euros. The modification of credits also included making flights to prepare the new General Structural Plan (60.000 euros).
The Councilor for Residents, Dirk Rheindorf, stressed in the plenary session that all these works responded to improve the quality of life of the residents. For his part, the mayor, Josep Femenia, insisted that it is essential that the residents living in the urbanizations or in the urban center have streets in conditions and illuminated.
Hopefully they learned other locations in asphalt and put lighting in the urbanizations of the municipality as for example Javea. It seems very wrong to me that part of the corporation in this case Compromis and the dissident councilor are refusing to a good or the citizens of the town, even if only for the safety and welfare of the neighbors.
