The Benitatxell PP accuses the government team of losing a provincial subsidy of 200.000 euros

February 14 from 2019 - 00: 30

The Popular Party of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell requests, in the absence of just over 100 days for local elections, the resignation of the municipal government team for losing a grant of almost 200.000 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante for the asphalting of roads in the urbanizations to "Prefer to go on vacation the mayor before writing a simple decree to accept the money", says the spokeswoman of the Popular Party in the town, Myra Van't Hoff.

The popular representative, together with members of the Red party, have presented the request for an extraordinary plenary session "In light of the seriousness of the events that occurred" in which they will ask for the resignation of the three councilors expelled from Compromís, who reached the local government after a pact with a tug-of-war mayor, Toni Colomer, and another one prosecuted for corruption, Nieves García, as reported in a statement.

Van't Hoff considers that "A government that loses a subsidy of 200.000 euros for negligence does not deserve to continue another minute. Neither 100 minutes should have been in the local government if they had had a minimum of shame. "

The spokesperson for the Popular Party points out in the letter that the Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell did not issue a decree, before the end of 2018, confirming the recognition of the expense of that subsidy.

García: "The aid is not lost, it will arrive in Benitatxell and will allow to resurface the damaged roads"

For its part, the government team of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, upon hearing the complaint of the PP, has clarified that "The subsidy of 198.000 euros of asphalting has not been lost. The Diputación de Alicante is calling the municipalities that did not authorize the expenditure within 2018. It is not the case of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, which authorized it at the board of government of December 30. The secretary is on leave and the accidental secretary, saturated with work, has not yet remitted that agreement. "

The mayor, Miguel Ángel García, has indicated that since Diputación is confirmed that the latter is still a process and that the important thing is that the agreement was taken within the year and that, if necessary, the mayor could ratify it now with a decree. "That important subsidy of 198.000 euros will reach the Poble Nou of Benitatxell and will allow resurfacing roads that are deteriorated, improve the quality of life of the residents of the municipality", marked Garcia.

The local government, however, regrets that they continue the maneuvers to try to torpedo municipal work. Criticism considers legitimate, but warns that the management in the end can harm the neighbors of the town.
