El Mayor of Jávea, José Chulvi, as well as the mayor of Tourism, Antonio Miragall, have traveled to Brussels to meet with a group of MEPs from the Environment and Industry committees. The objective will be to convey your concern about the project to carry out oil drilling in the Mediterranean.
The meeting was made possible by the mediator Andrés Perelló, Valencian Europarliamentarian and member of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. Perelló himself, German Matthias Groote, president of the agency, Linda McAvan, coordinator of the agency and Teresa Riera, member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and who already warned about the "will be present at the meeting"potentially harmful effects"of this type of action near the coast.
Chulvi noted that during the meeting will move the social opposition to these actions of Javea and the whole region. For this they have prepared a dossier in which agreements full of Javea and Denia and a summary of the actions that are taking place in the Marina Alta to stop polls are included. In addition Chulvi has contacted the mayor of Denia, Ana Kringe, to keep them informed and to launch a joint work to be defined at the network meeting of mayors of the region.
The demands of the fishermen that the president of the Fishing Association, Moisés Erades, transferred to the mayor will also be brought before the European Parliament. This sector is one of the most affected by the surveys since they are planned in the usual fishing ground of the region's fishing boats.
