Mayor of Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Josep Femenia, demands the resignation of the independent councilor Nieves García and remember that she herself committed herself in a plenary session to resigning the act if she was investigated for a cause of corruption.
At the request of the prosecutor that the cause of counterfeit endorsements, Josep Femenia reopens, Nieves García asks fulfill its promise. Mayor reminds him that "she voted for in plenary last December 1 against corruption and publicly pledged to renounce the act of councilman if he was investigated by the commission of a possible crime".
"The councilor must be consistent and resign, and if she does not, the Federation of Independent Parties of the Marina Alta should take action on the matter and separate her from politics because she is being investigated for a case that damages the image of politicians and can cause serious economic damage to our town hall"Said the mayor.
The highest municipal authority said that the alleged forgery came to light when banks began to notify the City Council that the construction company was charging endorsements later confirmed they were fraudulent.
"As mayor, my responsibility is to ensure the proper functioning of the administration and even today, banks are claiming money from false endorsements. I can not tolerate that the image of this institution is stained by the shadow of corruption"Femenía said.
He has also stated that "I do not ask it clear that the resignation for personal reasons but because all the aldermen of the City Council voted in favor of a pact against corruption is our duty to fulfill to the end".
