Disagreement in Xàbia regarding sexist violence

01 December 2023 - 10: 18

There was no unanimity in Xàbia in favor of the Institutional Declaration of 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The VOX councilor, Jose Marcos Pons, a member of the government team formed together with PP and Ciudadanos por Jávea, voted against the motion presented by the groups that make up the municipal corporation (PP, CpJ, PSOE and Compromís) in which they ask for unity to fight against violence of gender.

The motion was read by the popular councilor, Fatima Jarjor, responsible for Equality. Jarjor asked, on behalf of all parties, for zero tolerance towards gender violence, as well as to carry out different awareness-raising and help actions.

Given the disagreement in the vote, criticism and reproaches came from the opposition. From the Socialist Party, its spokesperson, José Chulvi, regretted that it was “a sad day in the history of Xàbia. "For the first time, the union against gender violence has been broken."

For her part, the spokesperson for Compromís, Carme Català, stated that "denying sexist violence is being complicit in the murders."

Given the opinions, the VOX councilor pointed out that at the meeting of spokespersons he had requested some changes to the motion, and apparently, these were not carried out.

I completely agree with the comments of Anónim@, Viva Vox if they are the only ones against this madness, and Vicente Oltra Xert. Violence is violence, no matter who it comes from and it must always be condemned, no matter who it is.

    INE data for 2022:
Firmly convicted of gender violence (= only men): 36.161
Firmly convicted of domestic violence (=men and women): 7.022; 72% are men, that is, 5.000 men, 2.000 women.
In other words, there are 20 times more men convicted of committing violence than women. The scourge of this society (and many others) is sexist violence, and this is data, real facts.
But why spoil a nice sexist story with reality?

From what I see, this has an easy solution; there are a lot of fascists on the loose

  4. Long live Vox if they are the only ones against this madness says:

If a man changes his gender after attacking his wife, it is no longer sexist violence, therefore it is not relevant.

If an empowered and lesbian woman mistreats her wife, it is no longer sexist violence, therefore it is not relevant.

If a mother drowns her son or daughter (also a woman), it is no longer sexist violence, therefore it is not relevant.

That it would still be good to condemn all types of violence. And if we must condemn more what a woman suffers for a man, let them not talk about equality or empowered women or women who are men just by feeling it very deeply before the civil registry.

We must fight against violence in general. Every year thousands of people die violently but in your propaganda posters you only put the names of women murdered by men, that is discriminatory because in this country there are also women murdered by women, men murdered by women and men murdered by men (understand that I include children and the elderly) but their names never appear on any poster nor are they given mass minutes of silence. There is no greater act of complicity with violence than the one you yourselves are carrying out. You, motorcycle sellers, are the greatest accomplices of violence in this country because you have the opportunity for thousands of people to listen to you and you only say what is convenient to win votes. The phrase “Not one less” should be changed to “For no one else.

And before the mental squares come to label me, NO, I AM NOT FROM VOX OR ANY OTHER PARTY, IF I SEE SOMETHING WRONG I WILL SAY IT, NO MATTER WHATEVER PARTY IT IS.

  6. Vicente Oltra Xert says:

    Very good for VOX
There is violence but without gender
There is sexist and female violence
