The spokesman for Citizens (C's) in Xàbia, Enrique Escrivá, has issued a statement in which it explains that in the extraordinary and urgent plenary session held in the xabiero consistory, this Monday, to approve the collaboration agreement and the specifications to award the construction project of the Xàbia indoor pool, asked the government municipal authority to launch a participatory consultation about the expectations and use expected by the residents and users of the future swimming pool.
"We miss that the real protagonists of the pool, the future users, have not been consulted, who are the ones who give meaning to a project like this". The one with the pool, the mayor continued, "It is one of the most important projects in recent years for Xàbia"since it is about "An infrastructure claimed and expected"However, he has regretted that the local government is closed in its absolute majority and does not count on the opposition - which barely had three days to know the details of the documentation - nor with the neighbors.
In this sense, and as he has claimed on previous occasions, the orange spokesman has asked that, at a minimum, large projects like this be exposed in a section on the municipal website, with information "Easy, simple and understandable" for all the neighbors, since in the end "They are the ones who pay it with part of their taxes".
In addition, the mayor has considered that "On a technical level the projects are as they are, but the neighbors must know about these works, also in a specific section of the municipal website, as well as issues such as deadlines, the award, the company or the amount". Escrivá, has stressed that this "It would be a fundamental step in municipal transparency."
On the other hand, the mayor has pointed out that from the training they miss "Real data that support the feasibility study, while it has been done only based on estimates", since the actual figures "They could have been achieved by consulting the neighbors."
This study, Escrivá has continued through the letter, considers that practically the entire adult population of Xàbia -about 15.000 people- will be paid in the first year of operation of the indoor pool, something that "Doesn't seem very realistic". Finally, the councilor xabiero has asked the municipal executive to have the corresponding staff positions planned within the municipal structure, for the operation of the pool, "Since today, we do not have approved budgets with which to deal with this issue, and first we will have to attend to other urgent personnel needs that exist in other departments, such as the Local Police."
