The spokesperson for Cs Xàbia, Enrique Escrivá, has proposed to the municipal executive that in the remodeling that is on the table of the Central Cinema, the Center Artístic Musical has a leading role, since it is a good space to host the future School of Music that intends to promote itself and, in addition, it would make it possible to energize the Historic helmet.
The mayor moved this proposal a few days ago, during the last ordinary plenary session, in which the band was present in the debate, after revealing that the Xàbia Artistic Musical Center "loses annually
various subsidies ”by not being able to register as a Music School.
Since the building in which the bands are currently rehearsing, El Surco, does not meet the requirements and regulations for spaces demanded by the Ministry to establish itself as a Musical School.
According to the Cs spokesman, this is a problem that the municipal government must solve now. Since “it is a problem that goes beyond the bands of music”, since, as the mayor has pointed out, “despite the works of
improvement carried out years ago in El Surco, the state of the facilities is quite improvable ". Whereas, if the Central Cinema is enabled for music bands and a comprehensive remodeling and conditioning of the Surco facilities is carried out, “all the musical associations that, today, share this facility, will benefit, and see how El Surco is too small for their needs ”, pointed out the mayor.
The councilor xabiero, has shelled this proposal arguing that, with these measures, "enabling the Central Cinema for music bands and remodeling El Surco, we will not only be supporting musical associations and bands, a musical group that brings together around of 400 musicians and that is a pride for Xàbia; but we will also contribute to give an important boost, to the revitalization of the Historic Center of Xàbia, using an emblematic building such as the Central Cinema ”, giving it a leading role
for the music bands and thus combining the necessary economic revitalization of the Historic Center of Xàbia with the empowerment of the xabiera culture.
