Red Cross will once again be in charge of monitoring the beaches of Xàbia

El Javea Town Hall has agreed in the governing board to extend during this summer the contract that it has signed since 2021 with the Red Cross for surveillance and first aid in the Xàbia beaches.

With a cost of 448.000 euros per year, this scales the service to the current trends in use of the beaches, so the posts are active on long weekends or Easter and the bathing season lasts from May to October.

Another point endorsed in today's meeting has been the specifications that will mark the contracting of the security service and auxiliary services on the beaches for 125.337,25 euros.

The Consistory is looking for a company that is in charge of controlling the barriers arranged in the accesses to the Calas de Barraca y granadella, its closure to vehicle traffic when the parking area is full and the information of alternatives to drivers and users in general.

The contract also includes the informants on the beach and the supervision of the transit and access of boats, maritime artifacts and active tourism excursions in the coves of Granadella and Portitxol so that the sustainability agreements with the City Council with the companies that manage them.

Baywatch Smoke Free

Likewise, a watchman is incorporated into the La Grava beach to act as a mediator for the friendly compliance of the Smoke-Free and Tobacco-Free Beach program.

Finally, personnel are also incorporated to control the barrier that warns of the closure of Ambolo or who does the daily shifts in the access control operation to the Cova Tallada that Xàbia shares with Dénia and the Montgó Natural Park.
