Compromís per Xàbia presents a motion in defense of human rights and gender violence

August 02 from 2023 - 11: 11

The councilor of Compromís per Xàbia, Carme Català, presented in the last plenary session, a motion/institutional declaration in defense of human rights and against sexist violence.

This motion was given by the actions and prohibitions produced in other Town Halls. The mayor of Compromís stated that “hiding gender equality or denying sexist violence, despising or violating lgtbi rights, is not democratic, it is not governing for the citizenry, but rather going against it.

The institutions, and the municipalities that are the first line of defense of these rights, must be guarantors of ensuring human rights and democracy, to continue working for equality between women and men, for lgtbi rights, and to eradicate any type of sexist violence or discrimination. For all the people.

They are human rights and our obligation is to defend and broaden them. We cannot take a step back from the rights achieved.

This motion was approved with the votes in favor of PP, Ciudadanos por Jávea and PSPV-PSOE, whose mayor Rosana Sapena added an amendment; that a minute of silence be observed at the beginning of the plenary sessions each time
produces a sexist murder, making the important work that the Javea Town Hall guarantee the right to equality of each and every citizen; and with the votes against VOX, whose mayor pointed out that "we are not going to allow any lesson on human rights or gender violence since we are the greatest defenders of violence of any kind."

«…Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnic origin, language, religion or any other condition. Human rights include the right to life and liberty; not to be subjected to slavery or torture; to freedom of opinion and expression; to education and work, among many others. These rights correspond to all people, without any discrimination.
The foundations of this normative body are found in the Charter of the United Nations and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, approved by the General Assembly in 1945 and 1948, respectively. Since then, the United Nations has been expanding human rights law to include specific norms related to women, children, persons with disabilities, minorities and other vulnerable groups, who now have rights that protect them from discrimination. which has long been common within many societies..»

And now this young lady, from a "good" family in the town, is inventing Coca Cola and the ignorant clappers and balls applaud her.

  2. God help us. says:

Sure, let's focus all our efforts on these issues. The state of our sanitary infrastructures, sewerage and coastal pollution, from which we ALL live, that can wait.

We are doing well with such thinking minds, we are doing great.

    • Juan José says:

I invite you to listen to the entire plenary, it seems to me that the mayor also spoke about the issues you mentioned: the state of the playgrounds, the contamination of the fountain and the garbage that goes into the river, etc.

      • Mary Waltz says:

I invite you to reflect on the following:
Don't you see it logical to dedicate every last second of your time, to all the politicians, EVERYONE, in dealing with solving the pressing problems that, like a sword of Damocles, are going to end the economy of Jávea, with our health and for where with our lives?
There are issues of the highest order, and others are not.
The Hierarchy of problems must exist, our lives depend on it.
You don't want to make me see that you went from problems like violence, whatever the genre, no.
Jávea is killing the chicken that gives us ALL a living.
You, if you want, keep looking for other sites, which seems to be very Terrreta, I prefer to shout for help to our politicians.
