The Department of Sports of Xàbia proposes to the plenary the appointment of five local athletes of recognized value as members of the new Municipal Council of l'Esport. An advisory body that will channel the participation of the municipality's sports clubs and agents in the planning and promotion policies for physical activity and sports at the local level.
councilman Alberto Tur has advanced that the proposal of his department is to incorporate David Ferrer (tennis player), Rafael Andarias (adapted sailing sailor), Julia Miñana (candle), Irene Bolufer (athletics) and María Cardona (handball).
Tur has pointed out that it is a parity group and representative of the different stages of the sports career and both individual and team disciplines, as well as adapted sports. "Voices and experiences that are undoubtedly enriching for the debate on how to promote or support sports activity in Xàbia", said the mayor.
The proposal will be ruled in the next commission of culture, sport and education and later it will be raised to plenary session; a session in which the rest of the members of this Consell will also be appointed.
On the one hand, the representatives of the local sports entities (clubs) will be the presidents of the Llebeig Xàbia Athletics Club, Xàbia Excursionist Center, Club Bàsquet Joventut Xàbia, Jávea Tennis Club y Club Handbol Xàbia. "This designation of spokespersons has been decided by the entities themselves," says the councilman.
On the other hand, the political parties will designate their representatives in a body in which the private sports entities in the population and the Municipal School Council will also have a voice.
After going through the entire constitution process, the Consell de l'Esport may be summoned and begin its analysis of the sporting situation of the municipality, its strengths and weaknesses and advice to the Town hall in the actions it undertakes to promote the sport.
