Chulvi regrets that the Department set aside to Javea to monitor the Marine Reserve of Cabo de San Antonio

08 March 2013 - 00: 00

Since more than a month ago the Conselleria eliminated the surveillance patrol of the San Antonio Marine Reserve, there have been many offers from the Javea Town Hall to remedy the situation and not let the natural area unprotected.

Yesterday, the city of Dénia announced that it has reached an agreement with the Department to resume the surveillance shared basis, news that surprised the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi.

Natural Reserve of San Antonio Cape Xàbia

According Chulvi, "It is unfortunate that the regional government has set aside one of the two municipalities involved and ignored all offers of collaboration of Xàbia". The mayor recalled that there was no official notification of the termination of the service by the Consellería, and even so Xàbia demanded the convocation of the Governing Board of the Natural Park Montgó to address the issue and coordinate new surveillance measures in this maritime area of high ecological and scenic value. He also contacted the vice president of the Generalitat to offer the means available to Xàbia for surveillance and solve the problem.

Unanswered by the Consell, last week the city council this week requested in writing again the convening of the Governing Board of the Montgó, but no answer. "And now we find that the Consell has jumped to the board of the park and the Town Hall of the municipality that has more territory in the reserve and has only taken Dénia into account when solving this
question"
He denounced Chulvi, which considers "The safeguard of what is a unique enclave and one of the richest in the Valencian Community has to be defined through serious and agreed agreements with all parties involved."
