El Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell approved, in the plenary session yesterday Wednesday, the proposal of the mayor, Josep Femenia, to create a commission to bring order to the urban and environmental situation of a strategic mountain for telecommunications firms.
The first mayor is determined to solve the historic conflict of the antennas at the top of the Puig de la Llorença. It must be remembered that the consistory does not have competence in terms of frequency assignment, but
if it can safeguard its natural and scenic values with a special plan that will be drafted in parallel to the structural plan of urban planning.
The point of the creation of a commission went ahead with the five votes in favor of the government team, composed of the three RED councilors: The mayor, Josep Femenia, the mayor Manolo Segarra and Nathalie Conig, and the spokespersons for the Pideb and the PP, Dirk Rheindorf and Myra Van't Hoff. However, the three opposition councilors attending the plenary session, from Compromís eIMA (Independientes Marina Alta), voted against.
The local government made it clear in plenary that it will not tolerate occupations of municipal plots in the Puig de la Llorença. Approved to initiate administrative procedures to recover a land that is now occupied with a
antenna by the company Abertis, concessionaire of the AP-7 highway.
The mayor called "contradiction" that Compromis voted against evicting this firm from a municipal land when this party is asking for the liberalization of the highway that precisely exploits the same mercantile.
Construction Cultural Center
Another outstanding point that was approved in the plenary session was to request that the construction of the Cultural Center of the Plaça de les Pesqueres enter the Cooperation Plan for works and services of the Provincial Council of Alicante in 2019. This infrastructure will solve the deficit of public facilities.
The Poble Nou de Benitatxell will have a space for social and cultural revitalization. The sociocultural center
will have an auditorium with capacity for 300 spectators. The two councilors of Compromis attending the plenary voted against, while the councilor of IMA abstained. The mayor regrets that the municipal group of Compromís had a "total blockage" to projects that are "fundamental for the people when the town hall is healthy and in the best financial situation in its history". It also reproaches this party that does not present constructive proposals.
Compromís proposes to install fiber optics
Compromís yes took a motion to yesterday's plenary, that of demanding that optical fiber be installed in the municipality. Both the mayor and the councilor of Economic Promotion, Manolo Segarra, they insisted that the proposal was late,
since the past 7 of February already entered the city council a request to begin the deployment of optical fiber in the Poble Nou de Benitatxell.
Segarra said that in a few months the network will be up and running. Compromís insisted that his motion be voted. The local government abstained.
