May 16 from 2018 - 13: 26

A handrail of 52 meters improves accessibility to the Church of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell and its plaza. This is the last action carried out by the Department of the Third Age, in charge of Manolo Segarra, to improve the security of access to the Church, especially the elderly, as it is a high street
pending and that is very used by passers-by, especially, in the festivities.

The mayor has indicated that these jobs are part of the microurbanismo that is making the government team to improve the quality of public spaces and also the safety of residents, mainly by the elderly.

The railing has been installed on the street that connects the Plaza de la Iglesia and the portals (door that gives access to the Plaza de la Iglesia from its rear side) with the cemetery and the parking area.

The Portalet

This door was one of the entrances to the walled nucleus on which the first villa was built, around the
church. This space was a medieval walled enclosure formed by the slopes of the highest ground, the walls of the temple and the back of the houses.

If from the square, the portals access to a viewpoint where you can see the Montgo, Cape Sant Antoni, the bay of Xàbia and the mountainous hills that rise up to Puig Llorença.
