Following the philosophy of "a green town and for the people", Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell will improve the image and functionality of the main entrance on the road to Xàbia. In a few weeks the work of this project will go out to public tender which, broadly speaking, will introduce more trees and landscaping on the avenue and at the access to the Mercat car park, will renovate the children's area located on the rise of the church and will redesign the skatepark .
The starting price of the tender is 134.610 euros (VAT included). Works are expected to begin at the end of the year and be completed in early 2022.
This area occupies a strategic place in the population, since it is one of the first scenarios observed by people who access the historic center of Benitatxell from Xàbia and the nearby urbanizations in the north of the municipality. In its immediate surroundings there are also some of the most emblematic buildings and locations of Poble Nou de Benitatxell: the church of Santa María Magdalena and the Municipal Cemetery.
The dilapidated state of the area and the poor quality of the design of the space, as well as the lack of vegetation, offer an unattractive image. The aim of this project is, in short, to improve the urban landscape of this access front, solving both the operational problems and the lack of coherence of the playground and skateboarding.
Specifically, in the main road, trees will be introduced through tree pits every two parking spaces, and shrub vegetation will be planted on the wall of the Mercat car park. In the children's playground and skate area, a complete remodeling is proposed to renew the image of the whole and reorder it for an optimization of the spaces. Thus, a single pedestrian crossing space will be enabled accompanied by green areas and a continuous zigzagging bench will be installed that will serve to delimit spaces. The park will also include new elements
games such as climbing areas, a sandbox and new slides.
"This action is one more example of the town model we want to achieve, with a lot of green, beautiful and welcoming for people," said the Councilor for Urban Planning, Jorge Pascual. In addition, the mayor added, "a request from the Consell de la Infància i l'Adolescència is being addressed, which on several occasions have requested that the unevenness problems of the skatepark be solved".
