The government team of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, following the cycle of citizen assemblies that have been scheduled for the coming months, has held a new meeting with the residents of the Les Fonts urbanization to explain the projects that are going to be carried out in brief in the area.
The most relevant action is the construction of a roundabout at the main intersection from Les Fonts to Teulada, where the mailboxes of the urbanization are located. This action, highly demanded by the residents of the area, aims to solve the historical traffic problems.
The urbanization of Les Fonts is located on the Camí Vell de Teulada (old way of passage that connected the municipalities of Xàbia and Teulada), reason why the influx of vehicles is very high. As the roads are wide and do not contain deterrents, very high speeds are reached which, in addition to being dangerous for pedestrians and their pets, cause noise nuisance to neighbors.
The mayor, Miguel Ángel García, and the councilors of Urban Planning and Citizen Security, Jorge Pascual and María José Ivars, supported by the municipal architect and agents of the Local Police, have shown the plans and explained all the details to the attendees.
The work, which has a budget of 48.236,86 euros (VAT included), is expected to begin in a few weeks and be completed before the end of the year. In addition to the construction of the roundabout, the action includes the resurfacing of the adjoining roads, the vertical and horizontal signaling and the delimitation of the parking areas.
The assembly has made it possible to listen to the opinions of residents, who have provided some suggestions for the roundabout that the mayor has promised to transfer to the company executing the project.
Performance in Camí l'Abiar
The assembly also addressed other issues such as the collection of solid urban waste or the remodeling of the Camí de l'Abiar, which connects the urban center with the urbanization.
On the first of the issues, the mayor has announced an upcoming meeting to explain all the news that is being worked on in the area of urban waste. Regarding the Camí de l'Abiar, he explained that there has been a significant delay on the part of the Alicante Provincial Council, which is the body in charge of carrying out the work, but that next Friday they will receive a visit from the technicians to start the drafting of the project, which is expected to be carried out next year.
“We are working on solving endemic and historical inherited problems that have never been given due attention. There have been important changes in the internal organization that have cost us time, but little by little they are allowing us to see results. We hope that in 2022 some of these improvements will already be reflected in the day-to-day life of the municipality, ”said the mayor.
