Benitatxell rename the streets that have Francoist connotations

02 2016 April - 00: 00

The full of the corporation of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell approved in plenary session, the proposal of the Municipal Council of Culture for the change of name of the streets of the municipality that contain Francoist connotations.

Full March at the town hall of Benitatxell

The proposal went ahead with the vote in favor of Red and Pibeb and despite the votes against Independent of the Navy and the abstentions of Compromís and the Popular Party. Independent spokesmen for the Navy and Compromís called for a referendum to change the streets. The councilman of Culture, Manolo SegarraHe argued that the Consell de Cultura, is a plural body made up of men and women of culture relevant that, in turn, represents all the sensitivities of the municipality.

He argued that the proposal to erase street names with warlike connotations marked the priority in the first meeting and that is why you should put a value on their proposals as agent promoter and advisor.

Finally, brandished each and every one of the changes suggested in the proposal were agreed unanimously by all Council members. "There was unanimous consensus in each of the names for the streets, if any member raised any doubt or dispute, the proposal did not go forward. As a result, I see no impropriety in the process, which has been fully agreed and finally raised to full for the corporation to decide whether this proposal should go ahead or not"Said Segarra.

We are moving forward Erika, at least you already admit other opinions…. All right

    • Reuss Erika Galindo says:

Julio, for a long time we have admitted other opinions, although we do not agree with them, what would be necessary is that you also admit them ...

  3. July says:

It was time they changed. All an archaism in force and against law. Congratulations to the government.

    ERIKA, super COMMENTARY OK.

    • Reuss Erika Galindo says:

Thanks Fernando. The archaism of Julio has made me very funny, it seems to me that he does not know very well what an archaism is, but I think that all opinions should be respected. ALL. Not only on one side ... Anyway, patience.

  5. Reuss Erika Galindo says:

Those proposals in which history is not taken into account and, curiously, always made by left-wing parties that seem to continue to choose to have lost the war, apart from being absurd (all coastal towns owe their tourist growth and, therefore, their current wealth, to the "evil and frightening" Francoist years) are economically inopportune: we all have a hard time changing the denomination of the streets. Let them stop stupid things and fix the potholes and the one hundred thousand other things that are pending !!
