El Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell has approved, this Thursday, in an extraordinary plenary session, the collaboration agreement between the Generalitat, through the Second Vice-Presidency and the Ministry of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture, and the City Council itself for the assignment of the right of first refusal and retraction that will allow the consistory to directly buy publicly protected housing.
Last July, in an official visit by Vice President Rubén Martínez Dalmau to the municipality, a preliminary agreement was signed. Now, in the absence of the approval of the Ministry, the agreement is formalized.
This agreement represents the preferential exercise of the City Council's right to purchase when acquiring a publicly protected home, a home resulting from a real estate crisis due to non-payment of mortgage debts or homes that are transferred in large real estate transactions. Until now, that right could only be exercised
the Generalitat.
And it is that the increase that has experienced the price of housing, both property and rental, has highlighted the need to adopt measures. To this must be added the consequences that the pandemic generated by COVID-19 is causing in economic activity.
Given these circumstances, the aim of this initiative is to create a public housing network that, with the greatest possible urgency, provides alternatives to those who cannot access the free housing market, as well as providing coverage to those who suffer an emergency situation. , such as victims of violence from
