One year after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, water is essential in our lives. It is even more so at the moment to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Personal hygiene and cleaning measures in the home make tap water essential and essential for our health. And behind the tap water that allows us to drink, that we wash our hands, put a washing machine or clean our house, there are the workers of Amjasa, which maintain an entire network of essential infrastructures so that tap water continues to reach homes with the certainty that it is healthy and safe.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, our employees have always demonstrated their professionalism at the service of the citizenry, even putting personal means to carry out their tasks during the confinement stage.
During this year, extreme precautions have been taken to guarantee full availability in an essential service such as the distribution of water, from its capture in the wells, or in the desalination plant, its treatment in the IRYDA filtration station, to the supply in each of the homes of Xàbia, guaranteeing, at all times, that the quality of the water meets the quality and safety parameters necessary for its consumption.
In addition, in this peculiar year, from AMJASA, together with the Javea Town Hall It has had to continue fighting against the "monster of the sewers" that has been increased by the presence of masks and gloves, so necessary for the fight against the coronavirus, as dangerous if they are not disposed of in the correct way.
This year, World Water Day, March 22, 2021, is about what water means to people, its true value, and how we can better protect this vital resource. Unfortunately, in Xàbia, there were situations of shortage in the past, so we know very well the value of water, so much so, that we built a desalination plant without subsidies or external aid, since we know well the consequences of not having available of such a precious commodity.
From AMJASA, in recent years we have worked to enhance this value of water, carrying out “Progrifo” campaigns in order to promote the consumption of tap water, allowing us to reduce the volume of plastics, in particular, and the generation of waste, energy expenditure and associated emissions, in general.
Also, we have participated with the City Council of Xàbia and others in the Marina Alta, in the campaign "The Sea Starts Here" that aims to warn of the dangers involved in throwing waste into the sewer.
For all these reasons, from AMJASA we want to take advantage of this World Water Day, to give the importance that this element deserves and also, to thank all our workers for their daily effort, through which we achieve added value every day on the Water. They are our Heroes and Heroines of the water.
