Xàbia joins the 'Reconquest of glass' in the Festival of Moors and Christians

One more year, Ecovidrio and the City of Jávea encourage the recycling of glass during the Moors and Christians Festivities with the campaign 'The Reconquest of Glass'. For this, the initiative aims to inculcate the citizens of Jávea and, especially, comparsas the importance of selectively separate glass packaging waste during the course of the holidays.


Also, during the holidays will be delivered to each filà, a cube with wheels equipped with ale-hop system and will be installed in the municipality containers labeled with the campaign image. In addition, on 18, 19, 20 and 21 days in July, environmental educators will inform festeros and citizens about the process of glass recycling and its environmental benefits.

30 Valencian populations participate in the campaign

This 2019, in "The Reconquest of Glass" Thirty municipalities of the Valencian Community participate, which compete for being the population that more kilos of glass recycles by festive in their containers assigned to the campaign. The winners will receive financial aid worth 1.500 euros for organizing 2020 parties.

In 2018, Jávea participated in the category Dolçaines, being in ninth position when recycling a total of 1750 kg, which meant 5,8 kg per festero. Likewise, all groups actively involved in the campaign and that recycle glass packaging waste correctly, will enter the draw for a batch of products packed in glass.

As a novelty, this year there will be ten online promotions on the web with questions about recycling glass containers and festivals of Moors and Christians. In these promotions, the participants who respond correctly to the questions will be able to win an exclusive miniglú with the image of this campaign.

At a general level, throughout 2018, the citizens of Jávea recycled a total of 1.687.110 kilograms of glass containers. This means that each citizen recycled an average of 62 kilograms of glass. Regarding the rate of containerization, Jávea is located with an average of 112 inhabitants per container, currently having a total of 243 igloos for glass packaging waste installed in the municipality.
