To celebrate International Book Day the municipal library de Jávea has opened a book crossing point. The counter has been installed in the center of the Municipal Mercat de Xàbia During the last week of April around 500 books will be released in Valencian, Spanish, French, English, German and Dutch.
With this initiative, the volunteers of the international bookcrossing movement intend to encourage reading through this practice, which consists of reading a book. Once the reading is finished, that book is left in a public place with the objective of passing it from hand to hand. In this way the volunteers will leave copies on top of the banks, fountains and other places such as Mercat Municipal and Correos. People who pass through these places can pick them up so they can read them.
To commemorate this day other activities such as a poetry reading will be made from the 19: 00 h. today at the Municipal Library of Jávea. Younger guests will also celebrate International Book Day with a storyteller that will take place tomorrow at 17: 30 h. at the Municipal Library Duanes.
