The Ministry of Housing has validated two of the five plots that Xàbia offered for the construction of housing for social rental. These are the two plots located in the Pou del Moro area (near the CEIP Trenc d'Alba) where a total of 64 homes can be built; 22 in one plot and 42 in another.
Xàbia, along with Valencia and Sagunto, is one of the three municipalities that will participate in this new call by the Government of the Generalitat Valenciana, which aims to provide young people and working families with access to housing.
As announced at the signing of the agreement between the Javea Town Hall and the Generalitat for the transfer of the right of first refusal and retraction. With this agreement, the City Council has a preferential option when it comes to acquiring homes related to non-payment of mortgages, dation, bank sales and judicial auctions.
The dwellings that from now on are acquired by the consistories adhered to this plan and the rights of first refusal and retraction are applied to them will be classified as permanently subsidized dwellings. In addition, the transfer of rights to the town halls also facilitates more efficient management of the proximity of the public park, since they are the social services municipal where people go first when they have housing needs; that is to say that these acquired homes will be managed through the municipal social services.
Given this action, Xàbia, apart from offering the plots to the Generalitat for construction, has indicated that it has budgeted 400.000 euros for the purchase of housing.
