A million meters swim against cancer, the new challenge of José Ramón García

January 14 from 2020 - 13: 41

New year and new challenge for José Ramón García. This neighbor of Xàbia continues with the solidary personal challenges since he started with it about seven years ago. His sixth challenge is aimed at the fight against cancer, specifically the support of Helen Smithson (daughter of Colin, Garcia's British partner with whom he swam in 2017 the Valencia-Alicante solidarity challenge in stages).

With this new objective, José Ramón plans to make a million meters swim, "With that I just want to encourage Helen and give visibility and support to the fight against this disease."

Since last January 1, the meter meter started up, already reaching, in just 13 days, 34.600 meters, just over 3% of what the total challenge means but for which Garcia has left still a whole year.

At the moment, these meters are made in the heated pool of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, "But the idea is to make trips at sea or in the swimming pools of different clubs that have offered me to leave their facilities to carry out this solidarity purpose."

Contribution of solidarity meters

García has reviewed Xàbia.com that through the Facebook page created for this purpose (https://www.facebook.com/jrnadadorsolidario/) there is the possibility that anyone who wants can join in contributing solidarity meters either through a donation that would go destined for the Mac Millan Cancer Support center in Glasgow, where Helen Smithson is being treated, or the simple fact of joining the challenge of this neighbor from Xàbia and swimming meters to give visibility to this disease.

Donations can be made through the gateway JUSTGIVINC.COM (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/OneMillionMetresSwim…), since it has the consent of the Mac Millan Cancer Support Center and this link is only focused on the solidarity challenge.

Likewise, José Ramón also encourages citizens to form teams and swim together the million meters, "It would be great to get among all the nadópatas that I know of all the places, teams of swimmers that are involved in swimming a million meters between all. It does not matter the number of swimmers of the group", Garcia comments on the event page.

Also, through the Facebook page of this challenge you can follow the evolution of the challenge and the meters achieved day after day. And, José Ramón García has to make about 3.000 meters a day to meet the challenge once 2020 ends.
