On the afternoon of Tuesday, the lifeguards of the Red Cross Jávea were alerted by the bathers of the Arenal Beach. An 82-year-old man of Dutch nationality was lying face down in the water, in a diving position but not moving.
Quickly, the lifeguards, who just at the moment of the warning had observed something strange in the bather, went to help him. After performing the cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, they could not save his life. The man reportedly suffered a heart attack while practicing snorkel.
Two SAMU ambulances, Local Police and Civil Guard agents also attended the scene.
