Festive atmosphere, smell and taste. This is how the Paella Contest of the Fiestas was lived last night in honor of the Virgin of Loreto de Xàbia organized by the Peña Les Marineres and that provided the rice to the participants.
Nearly thirty groups, including clubs, friends and families, participated in this gastronomic meeting that took place on the Duanes de la Mar sports court. At 22:00 p.m. the starting signal was given for the preparation of each of the paellas and at 23:00 p.m. each of the dishes was tasted.
The jury, made up of Fernando Piles, Jesús Palacio and Pepe 'Tomaca', was in charge of awarding the prize for the best paella, which went to number 8, formed by the Minerva family.
The winner got a trophy and a cash prize. The party and the good atmosphere continued during the night with the music by DJ Isaac and the bar service by the Peña Les Marineres.
This Peña, 32 years old, and promoter of this contest since 2007, also showed its commitment to caring for the environment and provided recyclable cups in each of the drinks.
