Xàbia would be, these days, partying. Its people would celebrate les Fogueres de Sant Joan, one of the most popular festivals in the municipality. Each of their acts have a maximum participation of both supporters clubs, neighbors and their protagonists, the fifth.
The Quintà 2020, 'Tot per l'aire', feel, in these weeks, sadness and disappointment. The coronavirus pandemic has broken the expected year, but it is not lost. Its maximum representative, the Regina Major de la Foguera 2020, Marta Ortuño, has transmitted her feelings to us and has sent a message of hope to all her quintà.
Ortuño highlights that "We have a strange feeling for not being able to do what we expected these days but I think, like other fifths, that it is the best, since celebrating them would be half-time parties and we could not enjoy them as we had planned".
"From the quintà we were supported by the commission in postponing the festivities to October. The postponement of the festivities at the beginning seemed good to us, since we saw that we were given another opportunity to be fifth and celebrate our festivities"Marta points out.
Now, after the official announcement of the cancellation of Les Fogueres 2020 due to the still unstable situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regina de la Quintà 2020 encourages its fifths to live it with joy next 2021, "I hope that next year we can all enjoy the holidays together as we had planned, that no one will back down."
And it is that, before this truncated dream, it is added that many of the fifth, will go next year to study abroad, the University exams overlap with the days of Fogueres, an issue that makes it difficult to celebrate the holidays as it would have been your year.
But Marta Ortuño, although also sad for its cancellation, affects that "better next year, being able to count on the complete programming, live the Nit dels Focs, act that this year is unfeasible with having to keep the distance ".
So, in 2021, Les Fogueres de Sant Joan de Xàbia will have, for the moment, two quintàs, "The Commission is planning what the next parties will be like so that we can all enjoy them to the fullest."
