Distributed in three points from the area of Caleta (Cala Blanca) until Arenal Beach, the volunteers who participated in the cleaning of the Xàbia coastline on Sunday collected a large amount of waste. Although the weight is unknown, 20 were the garbage bags that were filled to the top with all kinds of waste.
Glass because of the bottles, cardboard and plastic, were the large part of the garbage collected, but among this amount stands out "the mountain of cigarette butts that we collected", they indicate from the Xàbia Neta collective between Tots and from the Rotary Club Jávea who also joined the cleaning day, pointing out that it was much more than last year.
In addition, the volunteers have stated that among the material collected was part of an oar, a life jacket and several straw hats, among other unpleasant waste. The voluntary groups make an appeal to citizens requesting more environmental care, and respect for the environment.
Likewise, the Jávea Red Cross installed an environmental information space on the Arenal beach to raise awareness and sensitize citizens of the importance of recycling and not throwing garbage in the environment so as not to pollute the sea and preserve marine fauna.

Every day that I can, I collect garbage in a somewhat limited area - the cove and surroundings behind the Parador. Yesterday, after these volunteers, whom I thank for their work, cleaned up, I picked up a large garbage bag: 8 cans of beer, 3 cans of Coca Cola, a log full of nails, a broken glass bottle and the crystals around it, as well as countless plastics and pieces of plastic, wipes, glasses, etc., etc. I don't know what kind of education all the pigs that throw this have gotten and it's disappointing to see that day after day, whatever you clean, people keep doing the same thing. I have already given up collecting cigarette butts (and I am a smoker), because it was impossible for me, I have too many years for that effort. And they are not only the outsiders, because the fishermen who fish from the rocks throw remnants of lines, plastic bags where they carry hooks and butts by the hundreds. And almost all of them are from here. EVERYONE, vacationers and residents who do it, should be ashamed, but they don't seem to know what that is.

I would very much like you to put up many posters encouraging the care of recycled cleaning of Javea that is precious. Many more bins, better in a collected space or something closed that does not blow away when it is full and they leave the garbage aside. More fr waste collection. Fines for those who throw remains of furniture and works. Cleaning the verges of all Jávea is horrible of dirty. Teach, encourage and reward the population.
