The departments of Fiestas de la Marina Alta work to create a common front in the face of uncertainty due to COVID-19

13 March 2021 - 01: 32

Given the uncertainty of what will happen in 2021 with the local festivities and in the absence of clear guidelines from the Generalitat, several municipalities of the Marina Alta have decided to join forces to present a common front and agree on a roadmap regarding the acts and holiday events this summer.

A total of 18 councilors and mayors of the region have held telematic meetings to approach positions and learn about the situation of their neighboring counterparts.

The general conviction is that, for the second year in a row, it will be a different holiday than what we were used to before the pandemic. Despite the fact that there are still a few months left, the current situation suggests that there will be no mass events without control, such as festivals or mobile phones. However, all the councilors agreed at the meeting last Thursday that cultural events, including concerts, theaters or performances in open-air chairs, with controlled capacity, with interpersonal distance and following all measures, will have an important weight. hygiene and safety.

Likewise, the authorization of bars and party houses or kabiles has also been almost certainly ruled out. As for the festeros and fifths, no general agreement was reached, since each locality has its peculiarities.

"This situation does not like anyone, but we have to adapt and become aware that, for now, the parties will not be like before", agreed to point out the councilors attending the meetings.

All of them want to send a message of unity to citizens and show that, despite the fact that each town has its festivals and its idiosyncrasies, COVID-19 has the same effects on each of them.

In the same way, they also highlighted that they will work and make decisions day by day, always adapting to the circumstances and current regulations. In any case, they hope to have the "Collaboration and citizen responsibility when complying with the measures."

Signatory municipalities: Alcalalí, Benigembla, Benissa, Calp, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, El Ràfol d'Almúnia, Els Poblets, Gata de Gorgos, Jesús Pobre, La Vall de Gallinera, Ondara, Orba, Pedreguer, Pego, Sagra, Sanet i Negrals, Teulada and Xaló.
